I have no more tolerance for the word 'tolerance'. Let's use 'sensitive' instead. Two sides of the same coin.
There is a crazy obsession with reading more and more books. It’s a great one, but it is not a competition.
- It is more important to absorb the books well.
- Most things written in books are views and opinions. Don’t take them for facts.
- Reading is useless without thinking.
Mountaineering and entrepreneurship are two sides of the same coin. And the lessons they teach are similar, and interoperable in most scenarios.
Tip to beat recession:
Try to solve a problem and create some value, instead of playing economist and blame everyone around you for the so-called recession. Someone is winning somewhere. Be that someone.
Internet without civic sense, moral/ethical education can become an epidemic. At times it feels scary.
But then, my optimistic side tells me that it will be taken care of.
Ability to focus on your:
- business model
- business objective
- business challenge is easy, but most difficult at the same time.
If you think building a startup is difficult, try building a business.
If you think building a business is difficult, try building an institution.
There is always a premium for the unknown. I call it “story premium” – we have to believe what is being sent, unless it is proven wrong.
In today’s socially connected world, three key skills everyone needs is:
- Unlearn and learn, everyday.
- Ability to have strong views, but having ability to adapt as your worldview evolves.
- Be compassionate, less judgemental and kind, even if your views are opposed.
Key to success in aggregator model:
- low cost of customer acquisition
- creating real value, and hence having profitable transactions
